"Dear Dufur Community Members,
The Dufur School District School Board is committed to providing the best possible support for our teachers. We believe that supporting our teachers is one of the most important things we can do to ensure the success of our students.

To help with this goal, we are forming a new, short-term Instructional Support Advisory Committee. We are seeking parents, guardians, and local community members who are passionate about public education to lend their valuable perspective.

Scope of the Committee
This is a "task force" style committee with a clear and focused goal. The work will include:

Reviewing feedback on current instructional challenges.

Providing a parent and community perspective on district resources and support systems.

Identifying barriers that impact the teaching and learning environment.

Developing a set of practical, actionable recommendations for the School Board.

Time Commitment
This will be a fast-paced, focused effort.

Meetings: The committee will hold two (and no more than three) working meetings during November.

Goal: To prepare and present a formal set of recommendations at the regular School Board meeting in December 2025.

Your perspective as a community member is crucial as we work to make Dufur School a place where teachers feel supported and students thrive.

If you are interested in serving on this committee, please contact Tim Fain (Board Chair) at tim4dsd2@gmail.com by Wednesday, November 5th. In your email, please include a brief sentence or two about why you are interested in joining. Here's a link to give input and show interest: https://forms.gle/BQzS4nk9H5ybq2XSA

Thank you for considering this opportunity to support our school.

Sincerely,

Tim Fain Board Chair, Dufur School District"

The 3rd Graders have been learning about Classic Tales! To wrap up their hard work this quarter, they had several activities including a "picnic"! During the celebration, students dressed in disguises that Mr. Toad could have used in his grand escape. Toward the end of this Language Arts unit, Mr. Toad joined the class and then was up to his usual shenanigans.... Ugh, that Mr. Toad! A special thank you goes to Ms. Gloria, Ms. Kaylee, Mrs. Tierney, and all the other concerned citizens who reported spotting Toad out and about in the school and community!

Earlier this month, Mr. Talley’s fifth grade class traveled to The Dalles Mountain Ranch for a day of outdoor education with the SECRETS program. SECRETS is a science program through The Gorge Discovery Center and Gorge Ecology. Members of the team teach seven weekly lessons in the fifth grade classroom and facilitated this field trip. Thanks to TEN parent volunteers, the SECRETS team reported that this is the largest group of parent volunteers to attend one of their field trips! Way to go Dufur families!!
