Over the past two days, the 6th-8th grade classes have been taking floral arrangement classes with artists in residence. Students learned about native Oregonian flowers, and then put together floral arrangements that were gifted to staff members for Valentine's appreciation. Dufur School thanks Columbia Gorge Arts in Education for this wonderful artist in residence opportunity!
For Valentine's Day, Mrs. Gratiot's 4th grade students did some engineering to build the tallest heart structure! Each group could only use two sheets of paper, one pair of scissors, and one glue stick. Through a lot of trial and error, students came to some conclusions... it takes a larger heart to form a base, thicker hearts go on the bottom, and it's important how the hearts are turned when stacked on top of each other. The winning tower measured 16 inches tall!
Good luck to the Lady Ranger Basketball Team today (2/14), as they play at Spray High School in league crossover action, tipoff is at 6 pm!
Go Rangers!

In our first season of middle school competitive robotics at Dufur School, we hosted a regional tournament with teams from Dufur, South Wasco, The Dalles, and Hood River. The students showed off their creativity, engineering skills, and teamwork as they worked in pairs with other teams to complete a challenge. Seven teams qualified for the state tournament from this tournament and fun was had by all. A huge thank you to all the volunteers that helped to make this tournament a success!
