The 3rd Grade was invited to participate in Veterans' Celebration Week at the Oregon Veterans' Home! We had a wonderful time doing some artwork and chatting with all the Veterans who were there. We were very fortunate to have this opportunity to share stories, make connections, and learn about their service. Thank you OVH staff and residents for allowing us to make such great memories!

Mrs. Gratiot's 4th grade class enjoyed a day of Halloween activities including sharing their newly written personal narratives while enjoying hot chocolate, making pumpkins out of watercolor blobs, and creating catapults for a candy pumpkin chunkin' competition!







On Halloween Eve, members of DHS's National Honor Society demonstrated the NHS pillar of service by assisting employees at the Balch Hotel in Dufur as they prepared for their Halloween Haunted Hotel. Donations at the door benefit the Dufur Volunteer Fire Department. There are areas for all ages, so head down to the Balch on Halloween for some festive fun!





We will be honoring US Veterans at our assembly on November 8th, at 9 a.m. Local veterans and their families are invited to join us.

Tonight is our Annual Title 1 Parent Meeting. It will take place at 6 pm in the cafeteria. All Kindergarten through 5th grade parents are welcome to attend!

Between all the Homecoming fun, Ms. Ford's class created models of the eye to identify the different parts of the eye. Students then compared human eyes to those of nocturnal animals.




On Saturday evening six Dufur High School Students were involved in a one car motor vehicle accident on highway 197 just north of Dufur. One student sustained serious injuries and was taken by life flight to a Portland area hospital where they are receiving treatment and are in stable condition. The other students were transported to Adventist Health The Dalles, treated and released.

Picture Retake Day will be on Monday, October 23rd, at 9:00 a.m. Students who missed picture day, or who want their original photos retaken will have the opportunity that day. This will also be picture day for the Big Sprouts.

Parents, today is the last day free meal status will carry over from last year. If your child received free meals last year and you did not re-apply for free meals for this year, all meals beginning tomorrow will be full price. You may complete an meal application at any point during the year. Free meal approval is based on household income. Please call the school if you have questions or need help applying for free meals.

Our Health Sciences CTE students have done a few separate cool things in health sciences this semester so far!
1. The First Aid class used moulage to make fake wounds and then practice different methods of controlling the "bleed" and checking patient vital signs.
2. The Health Occupations class learned suturing techniques in their Nursing module.
3. The First Aid class practiced controlling major bleeds with pressure, packing and tourniquets in a simulated bleeding scenario.
