Mrs. Mead's 5th-grade class has been studying Early American Civilizations—Maya, Aztec, and Inca—as part of their reading curriculum. They created hand-painted, papier-mâché Maya masks. On their class hallway bulletin board, you’ll find the students’ codices. Each student chose one codex topic—farming methods, architecture, or social classes—to compare and contrast across all three civilizations. Then, they created their own version of a codex to display their writing. A codex is an ancient manuscript typically written on tree bark or animal hide. This project is a challenging, cumulative unit, and students have worked hard to hone their informative writing skills.

It looks like Mr. Henderson will be splitting the rest of his tenure as Superintendent between Dufur and D.C.! It also looks like he's chosen a solid cabinet. Safe travels to our D.C. group as they head home today!
