Mr. Talley's 5th graders recently had a hands-on science experience dissecting owl pellets! They eagerly explored the contents, identifying tiny bones and piecing together the diets of these fascinating birds of prey.

Our mid-level students were able to participate with Artist-In-Residence Amy Gray and her four helpers today. This is actually a culminating project that will result in a mural in the white wall space next to the cafeteria entrance! When speaking about the mural project, Amy said "Through illustration, drawing, painting, printmaking, etc using natural materials or plants or animals or words that the kids choose we could help them conceptualize the mural in March/April and May and then it could go up in June."

Many students were the guest speakers during this month's virtual Community of Practice meeting for Tribal History Shared History (a group of educators from the region who are passionate about teaching THSH)! They did a phenomenal job sharing about the history and importance of Powwows, styles of dances, their favorite parts of Powwow, what to expect for those who've never attended before, and etiquette. They greatly impressed the attendees with their knowledge, willingness to share their traditions and representing their community! These students, and many more, have been working hard to plan the 1st annual Powwow at Dufur School! We hope you and your family will be able to attend the event on Friday, March 21st. A community meal will begin at 6:00pm and Grand Entry will be at 7:00pm.

The fair was a great event, and we are very thankful to Leona Egeland for organizing it for our students. We also want to express gratitude to the vendors and individuals who came to share their knowledge with our students!
