On May 7th join the Science Department on the football field for a Star Party! From 8-9 pm we will view the moon with our 13 inch telescope. As it sets we will turn our attention to the planets, galaxies, constellations and s'mores. Free and all are welcome.

The Dufur School District Bond Project is about to begin! We have had residents of Dufur request to remove sod from the football field prior to excavation. The answer is YES, on Saturday and Sunday, May 4 and 5, you may remove sod from the football field. The only guidelines are that you remove the sod at your own risk, and provide your own tools for the removal. Anyone interested in making a donation in exchange for the sod are encouraged to do so.
All the "kids" were ready for school today! Happy Friday.

Edward Jones Investments of the Dalles recently made a generous $ 600.00 dollar donation to the Jerri Walker DePriest Memorial Endowment Fund at Dufur High School. Thanks to Tara Donovan, Kathy Durham and Heather Runyon for this thoughtful donation!
Today DHS US history students watched as their Celilo Falls project was flooded just as it was in real life on March 10, 1957. Students felt empathy as they watched what they had worked so hard to build disappear.




The Dufur School talent show will be held on Thursday, May 23rd in the lower gym. Stay tuned for information on auditions and rehearsals, but start planning your performances now! You can sing, dance, do gymnastics, play an instrument, act… Be creative and show us your talents!
There will be volleyball meeting for next years incoming freshmen-seniors on Wednesday, April 24th at 6:00 p.m. Please meet in the cafeteria to discuss fundraising, camps, team camp, open gym and summer play opportunities.
The Dufur School District received information this morning that a student had made threats of harm to people at the school. When this information was received, the student in question was detained; the Wasco County Sheriff's office was notified immediately. The WCSO conducted a thorough investigation; the investigation confirmed that that the student had made comments as reported.
At no time were students in danger at Dufur School.
The student was cited, and has been suspended from school.
The Dufur School District takes the safety of our students and staff very seriously, regrets this situation arose and is glad that it has come to a conclusion.
The Greenhouse Aquaponics System (Hydroponics where the nutrient rich water is created by fish) is now producing more green leaf lettuce then the school cafeteria can use. Help us out by eating more.
Parents should have received the Dufur School climate survey in the mail by now. We would appreciate it if you take time to complete and return your survey. Your responses will be very helpful as we work on our Continuous Improvement Plan.

Today Linda Meanus of the Warm Springs Tribe visited DHS's US history class. Ms. Meanus grew up in the Celilo Village and, after obtaining a degree from Portland State University, she spends her time traveling to talk about her Native culture and its importance.

Fun night supporting Esther AKA NERDer She Wrote, at the Ranger Dome. She is always there to support these awesome kids, so they did the same at the Roller Derby tonight!

2019 Jerri Walker DePriest Dinner & Auction billboard contest posters are due tomorrow (Friday, April 12th)! "Under the Big Top" is this year's theme. Turn them in to the office or to Mrs. Anderson. Prizes will be awarded this year! Here is one excellent example:

First, second, and third grade have pea, carrot, and radish seeds in the ground. Now we wait!
US history students are working with Pamela Larsen as she leads them through the Since Time Immemorial: Tribal Sovereignty Curriculum. It focuses on Celilo Falls and its loss. Creating the falls, the longhouse, and other historically accurate items are part of the activities.
