Mrs. Bales' 1st Grade Class celebrated Cinco de Mayo on My Day Friday. We learned all about the holiday by taking a "trip" to Mexico. We enjoyed being introduced to some Spanish words. We also taste-tested some foods, and learned how to do the traditional Mexican Hat Dance.

A group of high school students went to the BPA Substation last week. They learned about the electricity conversions that happen at the substation, saw the machines that do the conversions, and participated in a friendly competition to create the best/most efficient turbine.

Due to scheduling conflicts, the Dufur's Got Talent show has been bumped back to Friday, May 5th at 1:30 p.m. Mrs. Anderson will be reaching out to any parents who have students who are performing in the talent show at some point this afternoon or evening.
Congratulations to Dufur School alumni Cooper Bales and Trey Darden for making the 2023 winter term dean's list at Eastern Oregon University! Dean's list students maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher while completing a minimum of 12 credits of coursework for the duration of the term. Go Rangers!
Ranger Athlete Parents: It isn't too early to get your child's sports physical for fall sports. Remember football players need a current physical each year. Volleyball players need a physical every other year. The OCH Mobile Medical Unit will be on campus twice this month: May 3rd and May 17th, from 10 am to 4 pm. In celebration of National Leadership Week last week, DHS's National Honor Society put on a leadership scavenger hunt. One of the tasks was to take a selfie with students from other grades. Our younger kids enjoyed interacting in a positive way with our high school students, and our high school students loved getting to know some of our younger kids. One submission was drawn for a cash prize, and senior Emma Coleman was the winner!

Last day to donate to our annual Walk-a-thon! Thanks to our amazing students and community we have already reached our goal and we would love to reach $10,000!
Funds raised support our Innovative Educators Fund to assist teachers and classrooms with experiential learning, special supplies, field trips and recognition options.
