🦁 It was a ZOO in Mrs. Bales’ 1st grade classroom! The students researched their zoo animal, and created a habitat and presentation for our zoo visitors. We were excited to share our zoo with so many classes and our parents. 🐻







The Dufur School District is pleased to announce that Tess Welk has been hired as the Principal of Dufur School, beginning August 2025.
Mrs. Welk received her Associate of Arts Degree from Blue Mountain Community College in 2010. She then earned her Bachelors of Arts in Elementary Education from Eastern Oregon University in 2013, followed by a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership and a Masters Degree in Mathematics Instruction, both from Western Governors University.
Mrs. Welk has taught in the Helix School District, North Wasco County School District, and joined the Dufur School District in 2021. She served as an interim Principal in Dufur School in the fall of 2023.
Tess is very active in youth sports in the community of Dufur. Welcome to your new role in the Dufur School District Tess Welk!

The DHS Class of 2025 is down to just over one month of school left. Graduation will be held on Henderson Field on Saturday, May 31st at 11:00 AM.

2nd grade got to have a very special visitor today! Officer Kimi Hulke and her therapy dog Marion visited our classroom!! We learned all about her important job as a therapy dog and now think we need our very OWN therapy dog! ;) Thank you Officer Hulke and Marion! We look forward to seeing you again soon!





FRIDAY APRIL 25TH - Game Day! The Junior Ranger Football Campers will be playing on Henderson Field. Play begins at 5:30 pm. Games will begin at 5:30, 6:00, 6:30 and 7:00 pm.
Players need to wear their camp shirts to games as they will be used as their uniforms. Volunteers are needed to run concessions. If you're interested in helping or know a high schooler needing volunteer hours, please send them to Mrs. Hage!!! The BBQ will also be up and running, and burgers and hotdogs will be available for purchase. A limited amount of camp shirts will be available for purchase @ $10 each. OR bring your own white or black t-shirt/sweatshirt and we can add the design to it for $5. They're pretty cool!

Last week the Dufur students celebrated "Home Going" week. Many students participated in the dress-up days, like Tropical Day and Sports Moms & Barbeque Dads day.


Dufur School District Board of Directors will have a board retreat on April 22 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM in the Dufur School Conference Room. This work sessions is an opportunity for Board Members to have an in-depth discussion about the items listed on the agenda. There will not be an opportunity for public to provide comment during this work session. Public comment can be given at the next regularly scheduled board meeting. The 6th graders are busy working at the greenhouse. They have been planting, watering and transplanting seedlings. Their Plant Sale will be happening the first or second week of May!

In honor of Read Across America (last month) the WIN Room hosted a Bookmark Contest.
The winners are: Timber 1st grade, Lacy 3rd grade, Elizabeth 4th grade, and Serenity 5th grade.

Dufur Families, this is just a reminder that tomorrow is a NO SCHOOL day for students. The teachers will be working on end of Quarter 3 and Semester 2 Mid-Term grades. Have a great weekend!
The 4th grade class is in the middle of a geometry unit and studying angles. Today we used glow sticks to extend the rays of angles and practiced measuring with our protractors! They worked so well together!
