Here is our list of Honor Roll students for the second half of the 2022-23 school year! Honor Roll students have earned a 3.5 to 4.0 GPA. Honorable Mention students have earned a GPA between 3.25 and 3.49. Great work Rangers!

Posted is the Dufur School 6th-12th grade bell schedule for the 2023/2024 school year. The biggest thing to note is that middle school and high school breakfast times have changed compared to the 2022/2023 school year.

The last two weeks of Summer School, K-5th grade students learned about Pablo Picasso and Vincent van Gogh. Students worked with Mrs. Mead on their Cubist Portraits and Starry Night inspired paintings. They have learned about Impressionist and Abstract artwork, free hand drew their Starry Night outlines, and learned to use oil pastels. Great job trying something new, Rangers!

Community PSA: Here is updated information about One Community Health's Mobile Medical Unit's next visit on July 5th.

Our yearbook class is looking for pictures from this past year's Ranger baseball season. If you have any photos you would like to share please email them to beverson@dufur.k12.or.us! Thanks
Mrs. Huffman’s 5th graders ended the year creating paper circuits and would like to thank Julie Cucuel with the Columbia Gorge STEM Hub for providing a generous grant making the project possible.

Day 2 of Summer School Art highlighting an artist of the week, Michelangelo. Kindergarten-5th graders worked with Mrs. Mead on their inspired artwork. Students continued their Sistine Chapel artwork and carved soap as the famous sculptor did marble!

Dufur Community PSA: The One Community Health Mobile Medical Unit will be here on June 21st. Appointments will be available for any community members. See the attached flyer for details!

Kindergarten-5th graders are learning about a famous artist each week of summer school and working to create their own inspirational pieces. This week students are learning about Michelangelo and started their Sistine Chapel inspired drawings. They loved the challenge of drawing laying down and on the walls like Michelangelo!

The Dufur School District has received a generous grant from The Roundhouse Foundation in the amount of $100,000. This funding will support the purchase of a modular building that will house a School-Based Heath Center. Thank you to The Roundhouse Foundation for assisting Dufur School District in our goal to open a School-Based Heath Center in January 2024.
Mr. Bob from the OSU Extension Office worked with the 3rd Grade for several months. He taught Ms. Dawkins' class where food comes from, the different plant parts and which ones are edible, as well as the importance of pollinators. During the final activities, he helped students plant their own crops and make garden markers. Thanks for the fun and engaging lessons, Mr. Bob!

As the school year ends, the needs of our students do not. The Ranger Pride Education Foundation established the Raising Rangers fund during the holiday season this winter. The campaign continues with the new Raising Rangers Summer Fun Fund which will help purchase family pool passes, assist with camp registration and help us cover experiences and activities for our summer school curriculum. In partnership with the Dufur School Community Library, we are pleased to announce the Dufur School Little Free Library is open for all to enjoy! Please find this library to the left of the main parking lot entrance.

Mrs. Miller’s 2nd graders have spent the week camping out in their classroom with all reading, writing and math tied to camping! They also made solar ovens that they cooked s’mores in and STEM marshmallow towers. This has been a great way to kick off Summer!

On Wednesday, there was a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Little Free Library located near the entrance to our main parking lot. A huge thank you to:
* the generous local family that donated the cute Little Free Library!
* Don, Doug, & Steven for hard work installing the LFL, & setting-up & tearing down the venue!
* Sarah & Maddelynn Tierney for brainstorming, providing activities, & working the event & the library!
* Micah for the adorable read-aloud!
* Amanda Cleveland & The Dufur Market for generously donating yummy beverages & ice!
* Shirley Begay for cutting the ribbon, because she had such great reading growth this school year!
* The Ranger Pride Education Foundation for providing the awesome reading growth prizes!
Thanks much,
Britt Beeson

Some students in Ms. Ford's class chose to make a board game after reading their book club books. Today, classmates were able to test out the games!

The fourth grade students participated in a 40 Book Challenge this year in which they each worked towards reading 40 books from a variety of genres. Twelve students read 40 or more books and were rewarded with a surprise trip to Klindt's Booksellers and Stationers to experience a real bookstore and choose a book to keep for their hard work. Thank you to the Ranger Pride Education Foundation for providing the funds to purchase these books, and thank you to Klindt's for your donation as well!

Parents, if you know your child will not be attending school in Dufur next fall, please make sure that your return your Chromebook and other school property by the end of this week. Thanks for your help.
