Mrs. Rose Hertel
I grew up on a farm outside of Dufur, graduated from Dufur High School, went to college at Oregon State University and received my Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics. During college and before going back to school to become a teacher, I worked on a fishing boat in Alaska during the summers. I also went to work for UPS in The Dalles, which is where I met my husband, Travis. We were married in 2001, the same year I finished my Master’s in Teaching at University of Portland. For 5 years I taught math classes and worked as a math tutor at Columbia Gorge Community College, before coming to teach math at Dufur. My husband and I live about 6 miles outside of Dufur and love backpacking in the mountains of Eastern Oregon and taking road trips in our Jeep. I also enjoy working in my yard, jogging and playing with our two daughters, Lucinda and Kitti.
